Breast augmentation revision is a procedure that corrects the undesirable results of a previous augmentation. Breast enhancement demands extreme attention to detail and proper surgical technique for successful results. Even then, complications can occur and a revision may be required.

For example, a patient may require breast augmentation revision to correct capsular contracture, which happens when scar tissue forms around the implant and squeezes it. This can cause pain and also make the breasts look abnormal. With a revision, the scar tissue can be removed and in some cases the implant may be removed and replaced as well. The implants may also be repositioned for better results.

Some patients may seek breast augmentation revision to improve the appearance of the breasts after the initial surgery due to asymmetry or implant visibility. This can be achieved by repositioning the implant and/or changing its size or texture. Additionally, both silicone and saline implants can leak, rupture, fold, or wrinkle over time and breast implant exchange surgery be necessary to restore the original results. In other cases, breast augmentation revision is sought by patients who are simply unhappy with the results of their initial procedure or wish to change their implant size.
