A cosmetic facelift can fight the effects of aging, helping you achieve a more youthful and refreshed appearance. Skin laxity and the development of lines, wrinkles, and creases are common aspects of growing older. There are a variety of facelift procedures that target specific issues, from tightening the skin on your neck to reducing the appearance of crow’s feet around your eyes.

Popular cosmetic facelift procedures include the following:

  • Traditional facelift – This procedure is best for treating sagging skin on the lower portion of the face and neck. Incisions are made in the hairline near the temple and continue down the front of, around, and behind the ears. Excess skin is removed and remaining skin is tightened and sutured into place.
  • Deep plane facelift – A deep plane facelift often lasts longer than a traditional facelift and is an effective way to tighten the mid-face area, including nasolabial folds, or laugh lines, around the mouth. This type of cosmetic facelift pairs the excess skin removal of a traditional facelift with the repositioning of the facial musculature, or superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS).
  • Temporal lift – This procedure is a variant of a browlift and is sometimes called a mini facelift or mini lift. It treats small lines in the forehead and around the eyes. Incisions are made in the hairline near the temples and skin is lifted diagonally up and away from the middle of the face.
  • S-lift – This type of cosmetic facelift, also referred to as a mini facelift, treats mild to moderate sagging along the jowls, jaw line, and neck. An S-shaped incision is made in front of the ear, and skin and muscles are repositioned and tightened. Excess skin is removed.
