Undergoing a brachioplasty may be an option for patients seeking a solution for loose, sagging skin on the upper arms. More commonly known as an arm lift, the procedure typically begins with an incision from the armpit to just above the elbow. Underlying tissues are tightened and excess skin is removed to better define the upper arm.  In some cases, liposuction on the arm may also be performed to remove stubborn fat deposits. The best candidates for an arm lift are men or women who have lax, sagging arm skin due to genetics, dramatic weight loss or gain, and/or aging.

Some patients may benefit from arm liposuction instead of a full brachioplasty. Liposuction on the arm requires small incisions through which a cannula is inserted to break up and remove fatty deposits. The best candidates for a liposuction-only procedure are patients who still have good skin elasticity, but have excess fat deposits that are causing moderate drooping.
