A brow lift procedure, or forehead lift, is a terrific way to improve facial balance and harmony, while providing a refreshed and rested appearance to the eyes. Great results derive from shaping the eyebrows with a pleasing arch and positioning them above the rim of the bony orbit. Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Daniel Greenwald of Bayshore Plastic Surgery has decades of experience performing brow lift surgeries and his technique offers a less invasive approach than the traditional method.
A traditional forehead lift involves a large bicoronal incision made just behind the hairline, spanning from ear to ear. The forehead and eye brow tissues are then lifted from the scalp and corresponding muscles may be scored or cut. This step helps reduce the appearance of lines and creases on the forehead and in between the eyes.
In contrast, Dr. Greenwald’s technique avoids large incisions. Instead of the bicoronal flap, he places small incisions in the hairline. The eyebrows are repositioned on top of the muscles of the forehead. Because the muscles are not disturbed, swelling and bruising are minimal, recovery is fast, and the risk of complications is very low. A brow lift surgery using this technique can be performed in less than an hour and is very successful.
